EINE World Record Attempt Show
7th May 2009

Nelly Duff presnts the World Record Breaking attempt of EINE’s Full Colour Shutter Font Screenprint.

The East End's finest screen print gallery Nelly Duff is working with the world renowned street artist EINE and a collective of mad artisan printers in a feat of technical printing brilliance (or craziness!) never before seen. The record attempt starts on March 18th screen-printing EINE's internationally recognised Full Colour Shutter Font artwork with the most individual spot colours ever editioned entirely by hand. Each of the hand pulled artworks from the edition of 150 will take up to six weeks to complete because of the complexity of the process.

The subject of the print is what sought-after artist Ben EINE has become synonymous for, a unique font of the english alphabet which is emblazoned across the derelict shop shutters throughout London, Paris, Stockholm, Newcastle, New York & Dublin for the last 10 years. EINE is widely regarded as a pioneer of exploring the Graffiti letter-form. In addition EINE is the talented screen printer behind the majority of Banksy's highly collectable screen print editions...

This Record attempt depicts 25 letters (spot the missing letter!), each letter will have up to 6 spot colours making a huge number of colours to complete the Alphabet. Each ink is applied separately by hand with painstaking artisan accuracy (using traditional methods dating back a hundred years) on screen printing benches in central London. There will be a mixture of water-based, gloss varnish's and special inks. What makes the printing registration even more complex is the 320gsm somerset satin paper has a ripped / deckled edge.

The following editions of the Shutter Font A-Z are being untaken :
150 x Black background
25 x Gold background.
25 x White background.

A Record Attempt show illustrating the process will be held on May 7th 2009 at 6.30pm, at a address in central London, please see for details. The print release will be staggered, the first release will be online at on Wednesday April 22nd for all you early birds, with half the edition saved for a special release at the show.

One we hope Norris and Roy would be proud of...
