Some things in life are slick, hip, polished and blatantly obvious. But for Norma V. Toraya, who’s known as Crankbunny, these are exactly the things she shies away from. Instead, Crankbunny is more inclined to explore storytelling through curiosity and timeless concepts while working as a paper artist. Crankbunny has worked as a paper artist since 2007 creating paper art puppets and pop up cards.
Crankbunny is inspired by the whimsy found in vintage ephemera and older mechanical toys. Instead of creating prints or traditional flat artwork, Crankbunny stubbornly focuses on making artwork that folks are able to handle and which tickles the imagination. We love these characterful, humorous puppets here at Nelly Duff and are amazed by their fine detail and workmanship.
