Helen Ward is a Bristol-based paper artist who works under the name House of Wards. Each artwork depicts a place at a particular moment in time, built from layers of paper and card with added drawings and watercolour to create texture and surface detail. Nothing is edited out: loose telephone wires, stray weeds and the odd bin bag all make the cut. It’s an honest, unsentimental look at the places we inhabit.
Helen’s work has been exhibited across the UK and internationally — from New York and Hong Kong to Paris and at the V&A — and is held in private collections worldwide, including those of the Swedish and Thai Royal Families and Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud.
