Derlon Almeida hails from Recife in the Northeast state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Having been part of the graffiti movement as a youngster, today Derlon’s work is influenced by local culture and the traditional woodcut art of the region known as Cordel.
The artist is part of San Paulo’s Choque Cultural collective, which provides studio and gallery space for a variety of artists and makers in the heart of Brazil’s vibrant capital.
