Mixed media Artist and Central Saint Martins graduate Katy lives and works in East London. She specialises in hand sewing an array of one of a kind creations namely into ephemera.
As a multidisciplinary designer Katy worked in New York at the renowned agency Pentagram and smaller boutique firms in London, designing for clients including Channel 4, BBC and Vodaphone. She left the world of Graphic Design following a life changing event, finding this unique and meditative craft along the way. Her story strongly shapes her work.
She meticulously sources the postcards, which hold their own unique concept, making them one-of-a-kind. Each stitch adds an additional layer of context to an existing subject matter, weaving together the past and the present.
The reverse of Katy’s work is as endearing as the front. Threads overlap old handwritten messages which often adorn the back of the postcards, updating the narrative instead of re-writing it.
This slow and mindful practice plays a huge role in her process. She treats the journey as a destination in itself.
