A showcase of Matthew Small’s beautiful 2012 edition, ‘Metal Becky’ takes Small’s use of found metal in his original works, and reimagines it as a pristine limited edition. Made up of over 20 layers, each one is screen printed directly onto 2mm brushed aluminium, featuring areas of exposed aluminium to contrast beautifully against the thickly layered paint.

A masterclass in texture and technique, the ‘Becky’ series refuses to conform to printing norms, instead each sheet of aluminium contains its own particular flaws and distressed features, and for Matt this is absolutely essential. The unique qualities of metal and the roughness it can be perceived with is exactly why we printed this limited series – and that contrast of Becky’s sensitively conveyed, detailed portrait with the harshness of the metal is all part of the fun.

Available in limited runs of black and white, each edition is hand signed and numbered by Matt, scratching directly into the metal to leave his permanent mark. Exclusive to Nelly Duff, this edition is one of our absolutely favourite’s from Matt!
