Say hello to Mr. Will Barras, one of the Bristol’s most influential street artists and new addition to the Nelly family! If you aren’t already familiar with his etherial, colourful, fluid paintings then allow us to introduce you with pleasure. A founding member of Bristol’s iconic Scrawl Collective, alongside founders Mr Jago and Steff Plaetz, carved a new direction for contemporary street art in the UK.
The seminal street art book ‘Scrawl’, published in 1999 documented this change in direction, and cemented the collective’s status as leaders in their field, alongside other names you might recognise, such as a young Banksy!
Nowadays you’ll find Will’s work all over the world, from Hawaii to Taipei adorning walls great and small – as well as in his many solo and group exhibits he has participated in. Currently based in East London, his unique graphic style and inimitable, narrative driven composition assert him as one of the UK’s most exciting and celebrated street artists working today.
This October at Nelly Duff not only will we be releasing a new series of original artworks big and small from Barras, but will also be hosting the man himself for a live drawing session in the gallery! Meet the artist and watch him carry out his mesmerising work in person, all available to purchase on the day in store.
